Work those calves, people.
I know I’m stating the obvious when I say that Dwayne Johnson, a/k/a “The Rock” has an amazing body. Every time I’ve seen him in the gym, his calves are ON FIRE. It’s obvious he focuses on his legs as much as the rest of his body — as anyone should. Most guys who work out have great chests and arms, but as your eyes scroll down their bodies, their legs and calves turn to chicken bones. These “top heavy” dudes need a little SkoogFit in their life.
I’m not giving women a pass, either. Nothing’s better than shapely legs at the beach. See, I’m a leg queen-have you seen mine?! If you want GREAT legs, I’m your girl…but let’s start simply with the calf. With a LOT of work, consistency and patience, within 12 weeks you should see changes in your calf muscles.
Below are some great exercises to work calves into any workout:
- Jump rope intervals, 2-10 minutes
- Roundhouse kicks on a boxing bag
- Walking lunges
- Calf raises, 4-5 sets, HEAVY.
- Anterior tibialis machine (dorsi flexion with weight)
- Step Mill 20-45 minutes
- Hill sprints
