Along with an amazing and inspiring Team Skoogfit, I ran the Spartan Race today in northern New Jersey. It ranks up there with some of the hardest physical things I’ve ever done. The race was an 8-mile vertical-climb with 21 obstacles snaking through Mountain Creek Ski Resort (think: march up black diamond hills time and again…and again). Some of the obstacles included lugging 40-lb sand bags uphill, climbing slick-wet ropes, scaling 8-foot inverted walls, crawling through muck under barbed wire, swimming, and so, so much more. I did things today that I didn’t think I’d ever do. Seriously.
But it was one of the best workouts I’ve ever done, too. I see what the fuss is all about with these ‘silly’ races, like Tough Mudder, Run for your Lives, and The ROC Race: it totally gave my clients and me something to train for, get those nervous pre-race jitters and new fitness highs upon completion!
So who’s in for the next one? Email me. firstname.lastname@example.org. Let’s train together and do another one!
